Global networking is continuously increasing. International law, as a so-called mirror of the times, must constantly adapt and evolve. The transfer of knowledge is therefore of paramount importance, especially in this field.
As a regional integration and peace project, the EU plays a special pioneering role in this respect. In order to examine where it all began and the potentials it offers, the Institute is taking part in the Conference on the Future of Europe and will be holding the following event:
Utopian Union – Where are we heading?
30th June, Wednesday, 5 pm – 7 pm
This online event is devoted to the utopian history of ideas that was essential for the European peace project. Together with activists and scholars we will debate where the utopian roots of the EU lead and how much utopia it already carries.
We have the honor to announce that the opening statement will be given by Prof. Dr. Heike Krieger (Free University Berlin). Further speakers on the panel will be Prof. Dr. Christina Voigt (University of Oslo), Jana Degrott (Journalist, Politician & Activist) and Prof. Dr. Dietmar Heidemann (University of Luxembourg).
Subsequently, individual workshop groups will develop their own utopian visions on selected problem areas and elaborate solutions to current challenges. These include:
- Group 1: Climate Change & Human Rights
- Group 2: Migration & Borders
- Group 3: Rule of Law & Common European Values
Participants: All those who want to promote the European peace project. Previous legal knowledge is welcome, but not a requirement.
The link to the event will be sent after registration.
